More Canadians are relying on food banks than ever before.
October 27, 2026
2.35 million food bank visits in a single month. The highest number ever recorded.
Canadians from all walks of life are struggling to afford the basics. Nearly 117% more food bank visits are being recorded each month than in 2019, and 1/3 of food bank visitors are children.
This is no longer just about those who are unemployed. More and more people who work hard are turning to food banks because their income isn’t keeping up with the cost of living. Meanwhile, food banks themselves are struggling to keep up with demand, with many running out of food before everyone can be served.
Tamara Kronis joins me on The Blueprint: Canada’s Conservative Podcast to discuss Canada’s record food bank usage, the growing affordability crisis, and what needs to change.
