Bill C-9 wasn’t about fighting hate.

It was about giving the Liberals more power to police what Canadians could say.

Existing laws already made it illegal to promote hatred and incite violence. Instead of enforcing them, the government removed longstanding protections for religious expression, expanded vague definitions, and even shut down debate in Parliament to force the bill through.

Conservatives will continue to stand up for freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the Charter rights of every Canadian because Bill C-9 did more harm than good.
