Independent media in the crosshairs

Step by step, the Trudeau Government is deliberately getting in the way of what people can see and share online. Bill C-18 gives far too much power to the government to regulate without limitation and is one more example of the government choosing to side with large corporate media while shutting down small, local and independent news. Conservatives believe that we need to find a solution where Canadians can continue to freely access news content online, in addition to fairly compensating Canadian news outlets. Liberals doubling down on its power grab while failing to stand up against racism and prejudice.

As Justin Trudeau continues to push for more power to control what Canadians are able to see on the internet, his liberal government has been recently discovered to have appointed a cabinet advisor, who has links to an anti-Semitic group, to manage $595 million in media subsidies. Instead of trusting Canadians with the freedoms they had before the pandemic mandates, this government is doubling down on its power grab while failing to stand up against racism and prejudice. To shed light on these alarming issues, we are joined by Kevin Waugh, Member of Parliament for Saskatoon-Grasswood and Deputy Shadow Minister for Canadian Heritage.
